MEAT THE TEAM

Monthly lunches with the whole gang are part and parcel of our company culture, and everyone is always excited because a) we get to exchange gossip across all departments, and b) our boss foots the bill (hehe)!

We took a short walk from our office to Meat Smith at Telok Ayer Street, and the (literally) cool interior of the place was such a refreshing welcome—the afternoon sun was relentless!

Our party was so big that we had to be split into two groups. Sometimes we feel like we’re an entourage, strutting down the streets in slow motion.

Look at the descriptions! The menu alone was enough to make us salivate. Thank goodness the drinks we ordered came promptly so we could hold off the hunger for a bit.

Meat Smith had mood lighting and exposed brick walls, giving off a I’m-cooler-than-thou vibe. But that didn’t stop us from having a good time at all (I’m trying to say we’re pretty cool, ya dig?). One of our writers, Cheryl, is known for being a glutton, and true to form, she gobbled down her own plate of smoked iberico bacon chop slices, and reached for others’ barbecue spare ribs without hesitation. Well, perhaps she did pause to ask in an incredulous tone, “You’re not gonna finish that?”

We also ordered the Meat Smith BBQ Platter, which consisted of beef ribs and brisket, smoked chicken, pork ribs, and bone marrow. It was just a glorious meat feast, I tell you.

Needless to say, we all had a great time scarfing down meat after meat after meat. Their bacon mac and cheese was one of the highlights of the meal, with crunchy bacon bits that complemented the gooey cheese perfectly.

We had to walk in the sweltering heat again back to the office, but this time we really needed the walk; we were so full from our lunch, our bellies filled with deliciousness.

Yet another awesome lunch with the hardworking SV crew!
